Caravans

Arriving with a caravan

We would suggest you approach the camping from Neuveglise since the climb via Gros is steep and the roads are not wide or terribly well made up. Once at La Taillade the descent into the camping is not too demanding although there is a tight bend at one point. Please feel free to pull over and park by the barrier and descend on foot if you are at all unsure.

Once at reception, park off the road before coming into the office. It is preferable to explore the camping on foot before taking your caravan to the location of your choice. Some parts of the camping are definitely inaccessible to caravans - in particular the areas surrounding the little lake. Larger vans should use the main terrace where there is easy access and level sites. With a smaller caravan, you may wish to explore the west terraces or the long terrace below the pool.

Remember though that you've eventually got to get out and, after a little rain, the grass can become slippery. All, however is not lost, as we have a number of large vehicles capable of extracting you and your van if necessary - we'd certainly prefer to tow you out rather than you have a mishap of any kind!

Choosing a place

There are approximately 100 camping places on the site distributed over three fairly level terraces facing in different directions around the side of the hill. Nearly all have views over the valley, forest or farm land on the opposite slope of the valley.

When deciding on your camping place, there are a number of factors to consider. East-facing sites get the sun in the morning and during the day but not so much as the afternoon wears on; south-facing ones see the sun later in the morning, have the heat of the day with the sun remaining longer into the evening; west-facing places on the end of the terraces have the benefit of the sun setting into the mountains and the final rays of the day.

There is a water point and electricity near every site and most have more or less shade at various times of the day. Some are more level than others especially those on the main terrace between the snack bar and the shop - these are more suitable for large motor homes and larger caravans.

Notes:

Electricity is included in the price but you are not allowed to draw more than 4A total. Due to the physical location of the camping and the distance to the power network, voltage can drop at peak times and some electrically-powered refrigerators may not function efficiently.

Cars must not be parked on neighbouring camping places but may be left in the designated parking areas. You may, if you wish, park within the boundaries of your own place.

Sanitary facilities are within easy reach of every camping place and hot water for showering and washing is included in the price. There are waste bins located around the camping with facilities for recycling glass and other materials.
